What we do, and what we do it on

engineeria provides structural and civil engineering services from inception through to construction on broad range of sectors.

Structural engineering

Design and assessment in all materials, new build and existing.

Structural design.

New build, refurbishment and heritage, external structures, transfer structures. All materials.

Structural assessment.

Existing structure and foundation capacity, feasibility for vertical extension.

Specialist structural design.

Seismic design (EC8/IBC), human-induced vibration analysis, reinforcement detailing.

Bridge design.

Footbridges and highway structures, from option study to construction issue.

Retaining structure design.

Embedded and gravity walls, basements to BS 8102 Grade 3.

Temporary works design.

Propping, facade retention, staged demolition and erection sequences.

Civil engineering

Water, ground, roads and the agreements that release a site.

Flood risk assessment (FRA).

Site-wide levels and finished floor levels set against the design event.

Basement impact assessment (BIA).

To local authority requirements, including ground movement and hydrology.

Sustainable drainage design (SuDS).

SuDS strategy, attenuation, discharge rates and treatment train.

Below ground drainage design.

Gravity and pumped surface water and foul systems.

Foul drainage assessment.

Capacity and connection assessment against the receiving network.

Drainage agreements.

Adoption (S104), connection (S106), diversion (S185).

Highway design.

Geometry, pavement design, visibility and access arrangements.

Highway agreements.

Alterations to the existing highway (S278), new roads offered for adoption (S38).

Public realm design.

Levels design, pavement design, retaining structures, hard landscaping, footways.

Earthworks analysis.

Cut and fill.

Utility assessments and diversions.

Capacity enquiries, diversion design and coordination.

Infrastructure masterplanning.

Plot servicing, phasing and adoptable infrastructure across a site.

Delivery and advisory

Feasibility before commitment, and support through to completion.

Site appraisal and feasibility.

Constraints, buildability and cost consequence before a direction is fixed.

Due diligence support.

Technical review of a site or asset ahead of acquisition.

3D modelling and federated coordination.

Revit delivery on a shared CDE, clash resolution with the wider team.

Civil and structural carbon assessment.

Embodied carbon measured against design options, not asserted.

Independent checking and peer review.

Including Category 3 (independent) checking.

Construction methodology and management support.

Sequencing, site queries and design changes through construction.

Key sectors

A scheme that spans two or more sectors is tagged with each.

Commercial, workplace & retail.

Offices, fit-outs, refurbishment, high street and town centre regeneration.

Civic, culture & heritage.

Museums, galleries, listed buildings, conservation.

Residential & living.

Build-to-rent, student accommodation, affordable and private housing.

Hospitality, leisure & sport.

Digital delivery

Major projects are modelled in Revit and federated with the design team in a BIM-compliant environment.

3D modelling in Revit.

Our models federate with the wider design team, so structure, drainage and architecture are checked in one place.

A defined BIM workflow.

Employer’s Information Requirements (EIR), then a BIM Execution Plan (BEP), then delivery through a shared Common Data Environment (CDE).

Coordination and clash detection.

Run throughout design against the federated model, so clashes are resolved before they reach site.

Part of our QMS.

BIM procedures are embedded in our ISO 9001 quality management system and reviewed by an in-house R&D group.

Sustainability

A signatory to Structural Engineers Declare since 2019, the climate and biodiversity emergency initiative run by the Institution of Structural Engineers. We hold our own practice to the standard we set for our designs, whether or not a project requires it.

Material choice.

The most efficient material for each project, informed by embodied carbon calculation. We advise on layout changes that unlock efficiencies or allow a lower-carbon material.

Minimal intervention.

Localised strengthening in place of a new structure, where careful design allows it.

Retrofit and reuse.

Reuse is assessed before demolition and rebuild. We identify elements to retain and suggest changes elsewhere in the design to keep them.

Justifying existing structure.

Reuse of elements outside codes written for new build, supported by first-principles analysis, detailed surveys and in-situ testing.

Construction methodology.

Environmental impact is factored into every methodology we recommend.

Our own footprint.

Fewer international flights, drone inspection of remote sites, and cycling or public transport for site visits.

Circular economy.

We design for disassembly and future adaptation, and specify reclaimed and recycled materials where performance allows, so structures can be reused rather than demolished.
